The Voice champ Sofronio Vasquez visits Malacañang

"The Voice" USA Season 26 champion Sofronio Vasquez paid a courtesy call to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos at Malacañang Palace on Wednesday, January 8.

Vasquez is the first Filipino and the first Asian to win the prestigious title.

During the visit, Vasquez serenaded the First Couple and other officials with "Imagine" by The Beatles, a song he chose after learning the President is a fan, and also performed his winning song "A Million Dreams."

President Marcos Jr. expressed his pride in Vasquez's victory, stating that Filipinos are happy and recognize the talent of their countrymen in music.

He commended Vasquez for his generosity and humility, remarking that Vasquez was not seeking fame but rather making the music sound good.

The First Lady also lauded Vasquez's achievements, saying he made them proud.

Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez, Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, and Irene Marcos were among the other officials present during the courtesy call.
