Team PH bags 277 medals at 33rd SEA Games

Team Philippines concluded the 33rd Southeast Asian Games with a total of 50 gold, 73 silver, and 154 bronze medals, securing sixth place overall in the 10-nation competition.

Host Thailand dominated the Games, claiming the overall title with 233 gold, 154 silver, and 112 bronze medals.

Despite a lower medal count compared to the previous Games in Cambodia, Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino and Philippine Sports Commission chairman Patrick Gregorio deemed the performance a success.

Notable achievements for the Philippines included athletes setting new records, such as EJ Obiena in pole vault and Kayla Sanchez in swimming.

The Filipino contingent also achieved victories against Thailand in their strongholds, including women's football and women's beach volleyball, and successfully defended their position in basketball.
