TD Wilma, monsoon, shear line affect over 132,000 in PH

Over 132,000 individuals have been affected by the combined impact of Tropical Depression Wilma, the northeast monsoon, and the shear line across several regions in the Philippines, as reported by the NDRRMC.

Region 8 recorded the highest number of affected individuals with over 57,000, followed by Region 7 with 53,058 and Region 5 with 21,544.

A total of 22,000 people were displaced, with nearly 14,000 seeking shelter in evacuation centers and the rest receiving assistance outside these sites.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported due to the adverse weather conditions.

Assistance amounting to P885,290 has been provided to affected families, with 1,189 families having received aid so far.

Seven areas are currently experiencing flooding, primarily in Region 5 and Region 8, while 21 previously flooded locations have already seen water levels recede.

Three houses sustained partial damage, although no cost estimates for repairs have been released.
