Tarangnan, Samar under total lockdown due to 9 COVID-19 cases

The municipality of Tarangnan, Samar has been placed under a total lockdown by Mayor Arnel Tan following the Department of Health's confirmation of community transmission and nine cases of COVID-19 within the town.

The strict lockdown will be enforced in Poblacion barangays, where six new cases were reported, restricting residents to their homes except for emergencies and limited grocery shopping.

For other barangays, only one person per household is permitted to leave or enter Poblacion for essential needs, requiring authorization and specific docking procedures at the Municipal Wharf.

Travelers from Tarangnan are prohibited from docking at Calbayog City and Catbalogan City Ports, and no travel authorities will be issued for non-emergency departures from the municipality.

Barangay officials will distribute food packs to residents, as the risk reduction and management team is in isolation after a member tested positive for COVID-19.

Mass testing will be conducted on all individuals identified as direct contacts of the positive patients.

Samar Governor Michael Tan has pledged assistance, including food provisions, to prevent residents from going out, and will spearhead mass rapid testing and contact tracing efforts.
