Ferrer leads UST to UAAP title, bags Finals MVP

Tantoy Ferrer was named the UAAP Season 86 Finals MVP, leading the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigresses to their first championship in 17 years.

UST secured the title by defeating the National University Lady Bulldogs, 71-69, in a close Game 3.

Ferrer played a crucial role in the victory, scoring nine straight points down the stretch in Game 3, and finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds in the deciding game.

She averaged 15.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game throughout the finals series.

Ferrer's championship win comes after recovering from an ACL injury sustained in Season 84.

She emphasized the importance of showing that women's basketball is worth watching and thanked the UST community for their support.

Ferrer also mentioned that the championship was her primary goal before graduating, with the Finals MVP award being an unexpected bonus.
