Tansingco grateful for BI stint, welcomes successor

Former Immigration chief Norman Tansingco expressed his gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for the two-year opportunity to lead the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

Tansingco welcomed the appointment of his successor, assuring that the BI is staffed by dedicated professionals.

He described his tenure as marked by optimism, challenges, and determination, focusing on border control and preventing human trafficking.

Tansingco highlighted the difficulties of reforming an agency operating under outdated legislation.

Despite limitations, he stated that significant reforms were initiated during his term.

He also extended his thanks to the BI staff, the Justice Department, and international partners.
