13 rescued, 2 arrested in Taguig spa anti-trafficking op

Taguig City police have rescued 13 individuals, including minors, during an anti-trafficking operation at a spa in New Lower Bicutan that was allegedly offering sexual services.

The spa owners, identified as Rafael and Rizal, were arrested and are now facing charges for violating the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.

The operation was prompted by intelligence reports indicating the establishment was masquerading as a wellness center while engaging in illicit activities.

Surveillance was conducted on September 11 and 14 before the raid, which occurred around 1 AM on September 17.

Among those rescued were five minors, eight adults, and one person with a disability, all of whom were turned over to the Taguig DSWD for assistance.

Authorities clarified that no underage therapists were confirmed, and the minors present were children of the spa owners and therapists living on the premises.

The spa had reportedly been in operation since January 2024.
