Taal Volcano records no quakes for 3rd day, seismic activity low

Taal Volcano has recorded no volcanic earthquakes or tremors for three consecutive days, marking the fifth instance of seismic calm this month.

This contrasts with previous months, with November recording 514 volcanic earthquakes and 98 tremor events, and October logging 367 earthquakes and 69 tremors.

The volcano's sulfur dioxide emissions have also decreased to a weak 150 metric tons over the past 24 hours, with the gas plume rising 500 meters above the main crater.

Phivolcs reported no upwelling of hot volcanic fluids in the main crater lake and no observed volcanic smog or 'vog' during the monitoring period.

From December 1 to 17, Taal Volcano has recorded a total of 67 volcanic earthquakes and 11 tremor episodes.
