PHP6.8M shabu seized in Jolo buy-bust op

Anti-drug operatives arrested a suspected high-value dealer, identified as Abdul Munin Burani Akmad, in Jolo, Sulu, seizing PHP6.8 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation.

The suspect yielded one kilogram of the illegal substance during a trade-off along Serantes Street in Barangay Chinese Pier.

The operation was a joint effort involving PDEA-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), the Jolo Municipal Police Station, the Sulu Provincial Police Office, and the Philippine Coast Guard.

Gil Cesario Castro, director of PDEA-BARMM, confirmed the suspect yielded peacefully upon realizing he was dealing with law enforcement.

Akmad is currently detained at the Jolo police station and will face charges related to the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Officials of the multi-sector Sulu Provincial Peace and Order Council, chaired by Gov. Hadji Abdusakur Tan Sr., have pledged to assist in identifying Akmad's accomplices.
