Super Typhoon Rolly death toll reaches 20, Bicol devastated

Super Typhoon Rolly has killed at least 20 people as it devastated the Bicol region of the Philippines.

Most of the fatalities were in Albay, where volcanic materials from Mayon Volcano and large boulders buried homes, with several people feared buried alive.

In Catanduanes, around 10,000 small houses were destroyed and 3,000 larger houses were damaged.

The typhoon displaced nearly 96,000 families or over 368,000 individuals, with the majority housed in evacuation centers.

Power outages affected the Bicol region, with significant electricity infrastructure damage in Catanduanes.

Communication lines were also down in Catanduanes, but restoration efforts were underway.

The Department of Agriculture in Region V estimates the total agricultural loss and damage at over P1.2 million.

The Department of Public Works and Highways reported over P4.6 million in damages to national roads, bridges, and other infrastructure in the region.
