Super Typhoon Ofel prompts storm surge warning in six Luzon provinces

Super Typhoon Ofel has prompted a storm surge warning in six Luzon provinces, with expected heights ranging from 2.1 to 3.0 meters.

Pagasa weather expert Veronica Torres stated that Ofel is expected to make landfall between noon and 5 p.m. on November 14, near Cagayan.

Provinces like Batanes, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, and Aurora are particularly vulnerable to the higher storm surge, with a lesser storm surge of 1.0 to 2.0 meters also possible in certain areas of Ilocos Norte and Aurora.

Parts of Northern Luzon will experience heavy rains on Thursday afternoon due to Super Typhoon Ofel.

A yellow rainfall warning was raised over Divilacan, Maconacon, and Palanan in Isabela province, with potential for downpours between 7.5 mm and 15 mm, and possible flooding and landslides.

Moderate to heavy rains may affect the rest of Isabela, Cagayan including the Babuyan Group of Islands, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, Abra, and Aurora.

Light to moderate to at times heavy rains are expected over Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, the rest of Ifugao, Batanes, and the rest of Aurora within the next two to three hours.
