Strong Group Athletics remains undefeated in Jones Cup

Strong Group Athletics-Philippines began its 2025 William Jones Cup title defense with a 3-0 start.

The team overcame a 14-point deficit to defeat Chinese Taipei Blue, 67-56, with former NBA player Andre Roberson leading the charge with 17 points, 19 rebounds, and five steals.

Strong Group-Philippines then defeated the Japan Developmental Team, 79-67, in a wire-to-wire victory, where Andre Roberson again led the team with 15 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 blocks.

DJ Fenner and Javi Gomez de Liaño powered Strong Group Athletics to an 81-54 win over Qatar, pushing the Philippine representatives to 3-0.

Gomez de Liano hit two long triples and finished with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, and Fenner also had 18 points, along with seven rebounds.

Head coach Charles Tiu noted the team is 'banged up' with multiple players dealing with injuries and illnesses, including Tajuan Agee, Andre Roberson, Rhenz Abando, Dave Ildefonso, and Geo Chiu, but vows they will keep fighting.
