SMC doubles nutribun production for lockdown-affected families

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has significantly increased its production of the well-known nutribun to provide additional food assistance to underprivileged families affected by the Luzon lockdown.

The company's production has more than doubled, from an initial 10,000 buns per day to 24,000 pieces daily.

SMC President and COO Ramon S. Ang stated that the initiative aims to reach as many vulnerable families as possible and ensure they are fed and nourished during the crisis.

The production is being carried out at SMC's new ready-to-eat food manufacturing facility in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, and its Flour Development Center in Ugong, Pasig.

To date, SMC has produced 284,171 pieces of its nutribun version and also donated 177,808 pieces of pandesal.

Each 85-gram nutribun provides 250 calories, contributing to a total of 71 million calories from the nutribun-inspired bread produced so far.
