San Miguel Corporation (SMC) is donating five sets of RT-PCR machines and automated RNA extraction systems to the Department of Health (DoH) to increase the country's daily testing capacity.
The equipment sets can be used to conduct 11,000 COVID-19 tests per day and will be delivered by the DoH to beneficiary hospitals including the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, San Lazaro Hospital, Vicente Sotto Medical Center, and Southern Philippines Medical Center.
SMC will also donate testing kits for an additional 20,000 tests.
SMC President and Chief Operating Officer Ramon S. Ang expressed optimism that increased testing capacity will allow for a gradual and safe restart of the economy.
As of late, SMC has donated P1.147 billion worth of protective personal equipment, food, and rubbing alcohol to frontline workers and affected communities.
