Slovak tourist found dead on Boracay; one admits involvement

Michaela Mickova, a 23-year-old Slovak tourist, was found dead on Boracay Island with autopsy results indicating blunt force trauma to the head and signs of sexual abuse.

One person of interest, identified as alias Mik, has admitted to involvement and provided an affidavit implicating two friends, Jelo and JR, as the perpetrators of the sexual molestation and murder.

Mik was arrested in an anti-drug operation on March 14, and faced charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Mik stated that on March 10, he, Jelo, and JR met and later encountered Mickova, eventually going with her to an abandoned chapel where the crime allegedly occurred.

While police have persons of interest, they have not yet identified definite suspects.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the police are conducting separate investigations into the murder.

Aklan 2nd District Representative Teodorico Haresco has offered a P100,000 reward for information leading to the resolution of the case.

The incident has sparked outrage and calls for justice from local women's groups, who are also raising concerns about violence against women and safety on the island.
