SkyCable partners with DepEd for distance learning TV programs

SkyCable Corporation, a subsidiary of ABS-CBN Corp., has partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) to support distance learning through educational television programs.

The company has entered into agreements with several DepEd divisions across the Philippines, including Baguio, Laoag, Cebu, Iloilo, Davao, General Santos, and Zamboanga.

Through these deals, SkyCable will allocate a dedicated channel for DepEd TV to broadcast weekly lessons, assisting students who are participating in online classes.

Additionally, SkyCable will provide fiber internet connections to 32 selected DepEd priority schools nationwide as part of a separate agreement with DepEd.

Notable ABS-CBN broadcasters like Karen Davila, Kim Atienza, Jaque Manabat, Abner Mercado, and Korina Sanchez are assisting DepEd in training teachers to deliver interactive class episodes.

SkyCable President and Chief Operating Officer Antonio S. Ventosa expressed the company's commitment to ensuring the continuation of education.

This partnership comes at a time when both SkyCable and its parent company, ABS-CBN, had previously been ordered to cease broadcast operations due to the non-renewal of ABS-CBN's franchise.
