PWD family files child abuse complaint against six over June 9 mauling at Ayala Station

The family of a 25-year-old PWD, alias 'Macmac,' has filed a child abuse complaint with the Makati City Prosecutor's Office against six individuals for their alleged involvement in a June 9 mauling incident at the Ayala Station of the EDSA Carousel.

The complaint cites violation of Section 10(a) of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, and was filed with assistance from the Department of Transportation.

Among those targeted are the driver and conductor of the bus involved in the incident, as well as other individuals.

Macmac, who has an intellectual disability, was assaulted, kicked, tased, and dragged out of the bus, resulting in injuries including a bump on his head and eyes, bruises, and taser marks.

The family described the incident as inhumane, stating that Macmac was treated like an animal and mocked online by commenters.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon supported the family in filing the complaint, emphasizing the need to protect vulnerable members of society, particularly those with mental disabilities.
