Singer Claire dela Fuente dies at 62 due to COVID-19 complications

Veteran singer Claire dela Fuente died on Tuesday at age 62, three days after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

Her son, Gregorio de Guzman, revealed she suffered cardiac arrest in her sleep, believed to be related to stress and anxiety.

Dela Fuente experienced mild COVID-19 symptoms and had pre-existing conditions of hypertension and diabetes.

She initially stayed in a tent outside Las Piñas Doctors Hospital due to a lack of available rooms before being transferred to Pope John Paul II Hospital and Medical Center.

Her son recounted her final moments, stating she asked him to sleep beside her because she was afraid of what was happening to her and feared death.

He expressed disappointment over the leak of her death to the media and urged compliance with safety protocols.
