Severe Tropical Storm Paolo exits PAR, may re-intensify into typhoon

Severe Tropical Storm Paolo (Matmo) exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) before dawn on Saturday, October 4.

As of 11 a.m. Saturday, Paolo was located 440 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, moving west northwest toward southern China at 20 km/h.

The storm maintained maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h and gustiness of up to 135 km/h, and may re-intensify into a typhoon over the West Philippine Sea.

PAGASA has lifted all tropical wind signal advisories.

However, Paolo's outer rain bands may still bring storm to gale-force gusts over Batanes, northern Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Apayao, Zambales, and Bataan.

Moderate to rough seas are expected over the seaboards of Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, mainland Cagayan, Isabela and Bataan, with small vessels warned against sailing.
