Severe tropical storm Odette enters PAR, forecast to become typhoon

Severe Tropical Storm Rai entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 7 p.m. Tuesday and was named Odette.

It is forecast to intensify into a typhoon before making landfall.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Rai had maximum sustained winds of 100 kph and gustiness of up to 120 kph.

The storm is expected to reach a peak intensity of around 155 kph before making landfall in either Caraga or Eastern Visayas by Thursday afternoon or evening.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 may be raised, potentially causing damaging winds and destruction to light structures.

The storm may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region, with risks of flooding and landslides.
