SET receives quo warranto petition against Sen. Tulfo

Senator Erwin Tulfo is currently facing a quo warranto petition filed before the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) challenging his eligibility for office based on citizenship.

The petition was filed by Berteni Cataluna Causing on July 15, 2025, and the SET is currently undertaking preliminary actions.

While the SET Deputy Secretary Eleanor Francisco-Anunciacion confirmed a pending petition against a senator during a budget presentation, she did not initially name the individual.

This legal challenge is based on allegations of ineligibility due to Tulfo's citizenship.

A similar disqualification case filed by Causing against Tulfo in a previous midterm election was previously dismissed by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
