Senatorial bet vows free meals for students

Guillermo Eleazar, a senatorial candidate, has pledged to advocate for a free meal program for public school students if elected.

This proposed program requires collaboration between the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Agriculture (DA).

The initiative aims to provide nutritious meals using produce sourced from local farmers, thereby benefiting both students and the agricultural sector.

Eleazar emphasized that the program would address malnutrition among children of impoverished families and support local farmers by creating a stable market for their products.

Drawing from his experience as a former police chief, he highlighted the prevalence of students skipping classes due to poverty or being compelled to work.
