Senate President Sotto sees concerted effort to discredit him and Senate

Senate President Vicente Sotto III believes there is a "concerted effort" to discredit him and the Senate, potentially linked to rumors of a coup to oust the leadership.

Sotto noted a pattern of fake news targeting him, Senators Panfilo Lacson, and Juan Miguel Zubiri, particularly on weekends, followed by rumors of a coup on Mondays.

The Senate President mentioned that this pattern of disinformation has been observed since September 8.

Sotto himself assumed the Senate presidency through a leadership change on September 8, replacing Francis Escudero.

When asked about the perpetrators behind this alleged campaign, Sotto stated that "your guess is as good as mine," indicating he does not have concrete information yet.
