Senate President Chiz Escudero tells VP Sara Duterte to stop making harmful remarks

Senate President Chiz Escudero urged allies of Vice President Sara Duterte to advise her against making harmful public remarks, particularly after her alleged statements that she already contracted an assassin to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. if something bad happens to her.

Escudero described these statements as "deeply concerning and inappropriate" for an official in the second highest office of the land.

He emphasized that as a public official, Duterte has a duty to set an example for her office and the nation, especially for children.

The Senate President urged Duterte and her allies to examine how her actions have contributed to rising tensions and to curtail the situation to avoid additional harm.

Escudero advised Duterte's close associates to counsel her against making indecorous and potentially criminal statements, stating that such remarks do not benefit her office or the country.

He suggested that public officials should focus their energy on resolving urgent concerns of the Filipino people, adding that tackling the "erratic and troubling behavior" of a high-ranking official is a needless distraction.

Escudero concluded by stating that public servants' actions should always be evaluated based on whether they serve the people and benefit the nation.
