Senate cites contractors in contempt over flood control fund probe

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee has cited several contractors in contempt for failing to attend its inquiry into alleged misuse of billions in flood control funds.

An arrest warrant is set to be issued for the contractors who were properly served subpoenas but did not appear at the hearing.

Among those ordered arrested are Maria Roma Angeline Rimado of St. Timothy Construction and Eumir Villanueva of Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc.

The committee is scrutinizing contractors identified in President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s preliminary findings on corruption in flood control projects.

Senator Emmanuel Joel J. Villanueva also moved to subpoena the Commission on Audit's (CoA) report on the country's flood control projects.

Earlier, CoA Chairperson Gamaliel A. Cordoba ordered the initiation of a performance audit on government flood control projects.
