Sen. JV Ejercito wants higher budget for AFP modernization

Senator JV Ejercito is pushing for increased funding for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) modernization program amidst budget cuts and rising security concerns, especially in the West Philippine Sea.

Ejercito highlighted the consistent budget cuts that have hindered the progress of crucial modernization projects.

He noted that out of 188 revised AFP modernization projects, only 59 have been completed, attributing the slow progress to chronic underfunding.

The senator emphasized the urgent need to enhance the country's defense capabilities to address external threats.
