Hontiveros joins minority bloc in 20th Congress

Senator Risa Hontiveros has announced she will join the minority bloc in the 20th Congress, not forming an independent bloc as initially planned.

Hontiveros stated that her decision changed because another group of senators is organizing the minority bloc.

She accepted an invitation to join this newly formed minority group.

Hontiveros clarified that she would not have joined if she believed a different set of senators would form the minority bloc.

She will continue to function as an independent-minded lawmaker despite aligning with the minority.

This move coincides with the first regular session of the 20th Congress.
