Sen. Go optimistic Duterte's SONA offers hope amid pandemic

Senator Christopher "Bong" Go expressed optimism that President Rodrigo Duterte's fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) will offer hope to Filipinos navigating the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar also stated that the SONA will be full of optimism and hope, highlighting the administration's achievements to date.

Go anticipates the President's address will outline specific plans and legislative proposals aimed at bolstering the government's response to the crisis and promoting socio-economic recovery.

Andanar confirmed that Duterte will continue to pursue proposed measures to strengthen the country's healthcare system and improve government assistance to vulnerable sectors.

The SONA is expected to prioritize enhancing the capacity to Test, Trace, and Treat COVID-19 cases, alongside the establishment of mandatory quarantine facilities and the strengthening of the health workforce.

The President is also expected to discuss the government's good fiscal management despite the pandemic and mention the second version of the Bayanihan Act to ensure resources for aid and health equipment procurement.

Furthermore, Go hopes the SONA will highlight the strengthening of the health workforce and preparing a national vaccine program for COVID-19.
