Sen. Chiz Escudero files disbarment case vs lawyer Jesus Falcis with SC

Senator Chiz Escudero filed a disbarment case against lawyer Jesus Falcis III with the Supreme Court over alleged malicious social media posts.

Falcis' posts, made between July and September, criticized Escudero's actions regarding the national budget and flood control projects, calling him names such as 'shameless' and 'bulok na keso' (rotten cheese).

The lawyer also questioned the wealth of Escudero's wife, actress Heart Evangelista, and suggested her spending might be financed by her husband, linking Escudero to a flood control contractor.

Escudero cited Canon II of the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability (CPRA) and the responsible use of social media in his complaint.

The senator asked the Supreme Court to disbar Falcis and strike his name from the roll of attorneys, citing evidence of his unfitness to practice law.

The Supreme Court had previously cited Falcis in direct and indirect contempt.
