Sen. Go misses SONA for medical procedure

Senator Bong Go was absent from President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 22, 2024.

Go, an ally of former President Rodrigo Duterte, was undergoing a medical procedure, specifically a stress echocardiogram, at the time the SONA began.

He stated that the procedure was necessary to ensure his physical fitness for public service.

Go mentioned that he did not want to "deal with the crowd" and has "experienced several past SONAs anyway."

He emphasized that the actions following the President's speech are more important than the words themselves for delivering promised public service.

Despite his absence, Go confirmed he was watching the SONA on television and monitoring the administration's promises.

Go also expressed his support for the administration's good programs and plans, but stressed that he anticipates the results that will benefit the less fortunate Filipinos.
