Sen. Binay urges lifting of deployment ban for healthcare workers

Senator Nancy Binay is urging the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for COVID-19 to lift the deployment ban on healthcare workers.

Binay emphasized that the government should not prevent healthcare workers from seeking overseas employment to support their families.

She highlighted the real struggle faced by healthcare workers in trying to survive amidst risks and provide for their families during the pandemic.

The senator argued that the travel ban hinders healthcare workers' opportunities for a decent work-life balance and a better future for their families.

Binay appealed for understanding from the POEA and IATF regarding the financial pressures faced by nurses, who often need to support their families beyond their hospital work.

If the POEA maintains the deployment ban, Binay proposed that the government should ensure healthcare workers in the Philippines receive competitive salaries.
