Bato files bill seeking death penalty for plunder

Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa has filed Senate Bill No. 1343, proposing the reimposition of the death penalty by lethal injection for the crime of plunder.

The bill was filed in response to initial investigations into anomalous flood control projects, which revealed massive embezzlement of government resources.

Sources claim politicians allegedly receive up to 30 percent of project costs, while Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials and engineers purportedly receive 15 percent, along with contractors, the District Engineers Bids and Awards Committee, and the resident auditor.

Dela Rosa emphasized that public officials who betray public trust in fund disbursement deserve the highest penalty, especially in the face of suffering caused by such actions.

The proposed measure aims to impose capital punishment on individuals found guilty of plunder.
