SC suspends court ops in NCR, Regions III and IV-A due to typhoon

Court operations are suspended on July 25 in the National Capital Region (NCR), Region III, and Region IV-A due to Typhoon Carina and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon.

The suspension order was issued by Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo, aligning with the directive from the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) to suspend work in government offices and classes in these regions.

The OES cited continuous rainfall and the need to support rescue, recovery, relief, and rehabilitation efforts as reasons for the suspension.

Affected courts include the Supreme Court (SC), Court of Appeals (CA), Sandiganbayan, Court of Tax Appeals (CTA), and all trial courts within these three regions.

Trial courts encompass Regional Trial Courts (RTC), Municipal Trial Courts (MTC), Municipal Circuit Trial Courts (MCTC), Municipal Trial Courts in Cities (MTCC), and Metropolitan Trial Courts (MeTC).

For trial courts outside these regions, executive judges are instructed to follow the 2023 guidelines on suspending court operations.
