SC partners with SaferKidsPH to fight child online exploitation

The Supreme Court (SC) is partnering with SaferKidsPH, an Australian Government initiative, to enhance the protection of Filipino children from online sexual abuse and exploitation (OSAEC).

Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo vowed to strengthen the judiciary's commitment to protecting children and ensure "every Filipino child grows up in a world where their safety, dignity, and potential are protected."

The SC has been strengthening its legal framework for child protection, exemplified by the creation of an Anti-OSAEC Tri-City Justice Zone in Cagayan de Oro City, Ozamis City, and Iligan City.

The court recently issued its Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Social Aspects of the Family Courts Act, published the Bench Book for Family Courts, and approved the Rule on Family Mediation.

Additionally, the SC institutionalized Victim-Sensitive Guidelines to shield victims from further trauma and ensure early access to social services, even pre-litigation.

SaferKidsPH is an initiative delivered through a consortium comprising UNICEF, The Asia Foundation, and Save the Children Philippines.
