Courts in ECQ, MECQ areas physically closed until Aug. 18 – SC
All courts in Metro Manila, Cavite, Rizal, Bulacan, and Laguna, which are under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), will be physically closed until August 18.
This extension, ordered by Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta, is in response to the reported surge in COVID-19 cases.
The Supreme Court (SC) previously ordered the closure of these courts from August 3 to August 14.
During this period, courts can be reached through hotlines, email addresses, or Facebook accounts.
Essential court offices will continue to operate with a skeleton staff, and sessions will be conducted via videoconferencing.
The Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan, and Court of Tax Appeals will also work on pending cases through videoconferencing and accept electronic submissions.
