Sarrat achieves zero active Covid-19 cases

The municipality of Sarrat in Ilocos Norte has successfully eliminated all active cases of Covid-19 after implementing localized lockdowns and restrictive measures.

Mayor Remigio Medrano announced that the town has reached zero active cases, down from a high of 32 cases within a two-week period.

The last active case, identified as IN-C49, a 63-year-old male from Barangay San Lorenzo, has recovered and been discharged from the hospital.

Barangay San Lorenzo was identified as the origin point of the outbreak, which has now concluded with the patient's recovery.

Provincial health consultant Dr. Norman Rabago emphasized that a unified and integrated approach was crucial in preventing further spread of the virus.

The town's success was attributed to the discipline of its residents and the efforts of front-liners and Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc.

In response to the surge in cases, Ilocos Norte enhanced its contact tracing protocols and expanded Covid-19 testing.

These enhanced strategies involved collaboration between the Department of Health, various hospitals, private sectors, and the Bureau of Fire Protection.
