Sara Duterte's office asks to meet with Leni Robredo's team for transition talks

Incoming Vice President Sara Duterte's office initiated transition talks with outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo's office via a letter sent on May 27, 2022.

Duterte's spokesperson, Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco, confirmed the request for an initial virtual meeting to discuss protocols, policies, and precedents concerning the Office of the Vice President.

Duterte congratulated Robredo on her achievements in the letter.

Robredo acknowledged the letter and expressed readiness to meet, tasking her chief of staff, Undersecretary Philip Dy, to coordinate.

Robredo also sent a letter congratulating Duterte and stated her readiness for a smooth transition, though her spokesperson clarified the initial meeting would be between transition teams, not personally between the two Vice Presidents.

Robredo's spokesperson, Barry Gutierrez, stated Robredo would be "more than happy" to meet Duterte in person if she wishes.
