Sara Duterte's inauguration set for June 19 in Davao City

Presumptive Vice President Sara Duterte announced that her inauguration will be held on June 19 in Davao City.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) affirmed that Duterte could take her oath days before June 30, the official start of her term.

Comelec Commissioner George Garcia clarified that while the oath-taking can happen earlier, her term officially begins at 12:01 p.m. on June 30.

Duterte expressed that holding the oath-taking in Davao City is a source of pride for the region.

She intends to take her oath before President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to allow her to attend his inauguration.

Duterte previously pledged support and loyalty to the winning presidential candidate.

Her key areas of focus would include peace-building and child protection initiatives, especially within schools.
