Sandiganbayan justice appointed SC Court Administrator

Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Ma. Theresa Dolores Gomez-Estoesta has been appointed as the new Court Administrator of the Supreme Court, succeeding Raul Villanueva.

She took her oath before Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo and will assist the Supreme Court in the exercise of administrative supervision over all courts.

As Court Administrator, Gomez-Estoesta will lead a Central OCA Leadership Team in setting strategy, policy direction, and innovation initiatives for trial courts, while administrative functions are decentralized to the Office of the Regional Court Manager.

She brings 34 years of public service, starting as a solicitor in 1991 and serving as a trial court judge before her appointment to the Sandiganbayan in 2014, where she was the most senior associate justice and chaired the Seventh Division.

An alumna of Ateneo de Manila University, she has taught law there, lectures at the Philippine Judicial Academy, and served as a bar examiner.

Her appointment follows a trend of previous Court Administrators, Jose Midas Marquez and Raul Villanueva, who were later appointed as SC justices.
