Sanchez, Babao producers deny P10M interview allegations by Vico Sotto

Broadcast journalists Korina Sanchez and Julius Babao, through their producers, have denied Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto's allegations that they accepted P10 million for an interview with political rivals Sarah and Curlee Discaya.

The producers of Sanchez' shows stated that their programs do not conduct paid placements or vanity pieces, and interviewees are chosen based on public interest.

They explicitly denied the P10 million figure, calling Sotto's insinuations malicious and potentially constituting cyber libel.

Mayor Sotto had previously questioned the ethics of prominent journalists accepting substantial payments to interview political figures, implying the interview lent credibility to the Discayas' political aspirations.

Sotto acknowledged that the P10 million amount was not exact but emphasized the impact of journalistic credibility being lent to political candidates.
