San Sebastian pulls off reverse sweep vs Ateneo in SSL Preseason

San Sebastian College-Recoletos (SSC-R) achieved a remarkable reverse sweep against Ateneo de Manila University with a final score of 19-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-8 in their final game of the 2025 Shakey's Super League (SSL) Preseason Unity Cup.

Despite the victory, the Lady Stags concluded their tournament with a 1-2 record in Pool D, a similar standing to the Blue Eagles, who advanced to the next round due to a superior match points advantage.

Graduating winger Kath Santos was instrumental in the win, scoring 20 of her 21 points from kills in her final game for SSC-R, including 10 crucial points in the fourth set.

Santos mentioned that the team did not expect to win but put in maximum effort and worked together, with their coach encouraging them to enjoy the game regardless of the outcome.

SSC-R carried the momentum from winning the third and fourth sets into the fifth set, establishing a significant 10-4 lead that was extended by Juna Gonzales' consecutive hits.
