San Juan Mayor Zamora to get Sinovac jab

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora will receive his first Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine dose on Friday, April 16, a month after his recovery from the disease.

His decision to get vaccinated was approved by his doctor, along with Secretary Vince Dizon and DOH NCR Director Gloria Balboa.

The Department of Health (DOH) recently removed the 90-day waiting period for COVID-19 survivors before they can get vaccinated.

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) also permitted mayors in high-risk areas to be vaccinated.

Mayor Zamora contracted COVID-19 on March 1 and recovered on March 15.

Zamora expressed his hope that his vaccination will increase the confidence of San Juan residents in the city's vaccination program.

He emphasized the importance of vaccination for self-protection, family, and community safety.

As of April 15, 53,560 San Juaneños have registered for the vaccination program, which is 62.72% of the target population needed for herd immunity.
