Zamboanga Peninsula workers to get P33 daily wage increase starting Dec 12

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Region 9 has ordered a P33 daily wage increase for private sector workers in the Zamboanga Peninsula, effective December 12.

This raises the minimum daily wage for non-agricultural workers from P381 to P414, and for agricultural workers from P369 to P401.

The wage order was approved after consultations and public hearings, considering factors like the poverty threshold and opinions from labor and employer sectors.

Approximately 95,990 minimum wage earners are expected to directly benefit, with an additional 129,607 full-time workers potentially seeing indirect benefits.

The last wage increase in the region took effect on November 12, 2023.
