Romualdez proclaimed unopposed Leyte rep, vows to boost House productivity

House Speaker Martin Romualdez has been officially proclaimed as the representative for the 1st District of Leyte after running unopposed in the 2025 midterm elections.

This marks his sixth overall term as Leyte Representative and his third consecutive term.

Romualdez vowed to strengthen the efforts of the House in the upcoming 20th Congress, aiming for increased productivity and addressing the needs of the Filipino people.

He expressed his gratitude for the new chance to serve and assured that the trust given to him would not be wasted.

The Commission on Elections also proclaimed Alfred Romualdez, the Speaker's cousin and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s cousin, as the re-elected mayor of Tacloban City.

Alfred's son, Raymund Romualdez, was elected as the city's new vice mayor.

The Tingog party-list, with Speaker Romualdez's son as first nominee, has garnered significant votes in Tacloban City.
