Robyn Brown sole PH bet in World Athletics C'ships after Obiena exits

Pole vault star EJ Obiena has exited the qualification round of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, leaving hurdler Robyn Brown as the Philippines' sole representative.

Filipino-American Brown, the 2023 Asian champion, will compete in the women's 400m hurdles preliminaries aiming to advance to the semifinals.

She needs to finish in the Top 4 of her heat or achieve a competitive time to secure a spot in the next round.

Brown faces a challenging field, entering her heat as the lowest-ranked competitor against strong international hurdlers, including Femke Bol of the Netherlands, Ayomide Folorunso of Italy, Naomi Van den Broeck of Belgium, Kemi Adekoya of Bahrain, and Rogail Joseph of South Africa.
