The Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) is set to complete its investigation on the "false positives" COVID-19 tests linked to a Philippine Red Cross (PRC) chapter by October 8, according to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
An initial investigation revealed that all 49 hospital personnel tested positive using the PRC's Subic molecular laboratory.
However, subsequent confirmatory tests at Medical City in Clark found only five of the 49 health personnel were actually positive.
Health Secretary Duque stated that the RITM's investigation is a technical process involving four phases, including reviewing laboratory records, compliance to protocols, and proficiency testing.
President Rodrigo Duterte had previously asked the Department of Health (DOH) to probe these "false positive" incidents.
