Richard Gomez wins silver in SEA Games, dedicates medal to Ormoc City

Richard Gomez, a multi-sport SEA Games veteran, dedicated his recent silver medal win in sporting clays to the people of Ormoc City.

His silver medal in the Shotgun (Sporting Clay) Shooting Team event brings his total medal haul to two golds, four silvers, and one bronze over seven Games appearances since 2005.

Host Thailand won gold in the event, while Malaysia took home the bronze.

Lucy Torres-Gomez surprised her husband after his medal win, despite initial plans for her to watch from the Philippines due to her duties as Ormoc mayor.

Gomez expressed happiness with the silver medal, acknowledging that while they aimed for gold, the silver is a significant achievement.

He thanked his teammates, coaches, the local government of Ormoc, and Lucy for their support.

This medal marks his fourth silver in the SEA Games.

This year, 20 athletes from Ormoc City competed in the SEA Games, and Gomez's medal was the first for the city.
