Richard Garin Jr. wins second term as Miagao mayor

Richard Garin Jr. has been reelected as the Mayor of Miagao, Iloilo, securing his second term in office.

Garin defeated his former political ally, Macario Napulan, by a margin of 4,074 votes, garnering 20,193 votes to Napulan's 16,119.

In the vice mayoral race, Dr. Salve Napud, Napulan's running mate, emerged victorious over Carmelo Nochete with 19,324 votes.

This election highlighted a significant political shift, as Garin Jr. and Napulan had previously served together on the same ticket in 2022.

In his victory speech, Mayor Garin pledged to provide sincere and inclusive public service.

He stated, "Show me your faith, and I will show you my work."

Addressing his opponents, Garin stressed mutual respect for the democratic process, stating, "We will always respect the decision of the majority."
