Retired military officers affirm support for Marcos admin

Retired military officers, through the Association of General and Flag Officers, Inc. (AGFO), have publicly rejected any calls for destabilization efforts against the government, military intervention, and withdrawal of support from the Marcos administration.

AGFO, composed of retired and active generals and flag officers from the AFP, PNP, PCG, BJMP, and BFP, released a "Manifesto of Unwavering Support and Solidarity."

The group acknowledged the current political situation and stated they are aware of individuals urging the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to withdraw its support from the President.

AGFO emphasized that the military, even in retirement, upholds the Constitution and the principle of civilian supremacy, which are the cornerstones of democracy.

The organization explicitly condemned any unconstitutional acts or military adventurism and invoked Article XVI, Section 5 of the Constitution, which insulates the armed forces from partisan politics.

The AFP welcomed AGFO's statement, seeing it as an affirmation of the shared commitment of active and retired officers to uphold the Constitution and civilian authority.

The AFP believes the statement shows that the armed forces remain an important piece to the country's stability.
