Reps deny claims of asking for project funds kickback

Several lawmakers, including Romblon Rep. Eleandro Jesus Madrona and Quezon City Rep. Patrick Michael Vargas, have denied accusations made by contractor-couple Pacifico and Cezarah Discaya that they asked for a percentage of project funds.

Rep. Madrona stated that to his recollection, the Discaya companies did not have any approved projects in his district and he had no involvement in the bidding process or contractor payments.

Madrona questioned the basis of Discaya's allegations, emphasizing his lack of knowledge regarding any payments made to individuals involved in the projects.

Curlee Discaya had named Madrona during a Senate blue ribbon committee hearing as among House members he had personally met.

Rep. Vargas also stated that Discaya-owned or related firms have no projects in his district and confirmed that the accusations are "100% NOT TRUE."

Vargas announced his intention to file charges against the couple for their "blatant lie."

Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo also denied similar accusations, suggesting the claims are a diversionary tactic.
